🚛 Truck moves opposite the slide: forward slide → back the truck up · rearward slide → pull the truck forward. Set trailer brakes, pull the pins / release the lock, ease the tractor, then re-lock and re-weigh.

Federal limits: steer varies (~12,000), drive tandem 34,000, trailer tandem 34,000, gross 80,000. The fifth wheel only shifts steer↔drive; the tandems only shift drive↔trailer. Neither changes your gross.
